To the Zoo!!!

Hello everyone! Mommy and Nanny wanted to go to a flower show today. I was kind of bored, so Daddy took me and Jake to the zoo next door! The zoo was really hot but really better than the boring flower show! First we saw lots of flamingos, then we saw alligators and turtles. Then we saw this lion and Daddy took our picture standing right next to it! When Mommy saw the picture she almost had a heart attack. Good thing she wasn't there! I'm making a lion face in this picture. A group of girls kept following us around the zoo. I guess they don't see foreigners very often. They frustrated me because I wanted them to stop following me! Jacob talked to the girls, but he was scared of the lion. After the lion we fed an ostrich with lettuce on a stick. After all that we were really tired so we went back to the flower show, got Mommy and Nanny and went home.

See you next blog!

Hi Owen,
I don't know why Mommy was concerned about you being close to that lion, it looks as though it is an old tired and scraggly lion?
I am not sure, but maybe you know, are lions native to the area around Cairo? I know that I have read about lions in the Bible but I think they tended to live in more mountainous / hilly areas.
It also looks as though it was very hot on the day that you went to the Zoo? I know some people who would not go in that kind of heat because the Zoo tend to stink a bit.How was it when you were there
I suppose that it was much better than going to a flower shop for you and Jacob.

I think the lion though it was about as hot and boring out there as you boys did at the flower show! Maybe he was just a big stuffed animal?

I wish it was nice and warm and sunny here like it is in Egypt. It's been raining for days and days in Washington. The cherry blossoms were nice for a few days, but then the wind and rain knocked them all down. Please send us some of your sunshine!

We all miss you and hope that you're well. Can you post a picture of you with Zach so we can see how big he's getting?

Love,
Auntie Kat
